Apple, the one of the tech giant company released their new iPhones for their annual event. This event took place in Cupertino, California. Apple expected to launch three new iPhones, where Apple unveiled the iPhone XS, the iPhone XR and Apple Watch series 4. But we are going to compare two of the biggest devices of 2018, Galaxy Note 8 and iPhone XS Max.
Display
Both phones have a big and wide screen. The Note 9 is slightly thicker and taller, but the iPhone XS Max is slightly wider. They both get weight more than 200g, Note 9 has 201g and 208g for iPhone XS MaX. And both of the phones are definitely two-handed devices. Both of them have similar size display because we’ve got 6.4 inches on Note 9 and 6.6 inches on iPhone XS Max. We’ve top and bottom small bezels on Galaxy Note 9 but there are no bezels in iPhone XS Max. In fact, it has notched at the top as similar to iPhone X.
But the quality of the display on both devices has an amazing display. The both have OLED technology. We gonna have deep black, high contrast ratios vibrant colors and very good viewing angles. And still 3D touch exist in the iPhone XS Max, it a pressure sensitive display. You can push down harder on certain items and it’s gonna give you more options. But with the Galaxy Note 9, we don’t get the 3D touch, however, it has 3D touch home button.
Resolution
When it comes to resolution, both phones come with the high-resolution display. Note 9 has 2960*1440 pixels resolution and iPhone XS Max has 2688*1242 pixels. But Note 9 has the higher pixel density (~516 ppi ), On the other hand, iPhone XS Max has (~ 458 ppi ). It means Note 9 gives a slight edge when it comes to sharpness. So Note 9 give you overall sharper details than iPhone XS Max.
Design
With the Note 9, it has a metal frame with the curve Gorilla 5 Panels on front and back. The iPhone XS Max has a stainless steel frame also with glass panels on the front and back.
Internal
Moving to internal, Note 9 has either Qualcomm Snapdragon 845 processor or Samsung Exynos 9810. The iPhone XS Max come with the latest A12 Bionic chip. We gonna have up to 50% improvement in graphics performance as compared to the last year model. In terms of the OS, Note 9 comes with Android Oreo Version 8.1 and iPhone XS Mas with iOS 12.
Storage
Talking about the storage, Note 9 got the advantage in this category. It’s because it has a base of 128GB and there is also 512 GB version. It can also expand with a micro SD card to get more storage. With the iPhone XS max, it starts with 64 GB, there are also 256 GB and 512 GB versions. The 512 GB version is too much expensive and also cannot expand storage with micro SD card as we can do with Note 9.
Camera
Primary Camera
Moving into cameras, they both have a dual camera on the back with LED Flash. We’ve primary camera as well as a telephoto camera on both devices. But we’ve dual aperture F1.5 and F2.4 on the primary lens of Note 9. We can switch between these depending light in or scene. Note 9 camera is too perfect in terms of low light images.
On the other hand, iPhone XS Max has F1.8 aperture on the primary lens and F2.4 aperture in secondary. Both devices have portrait mode where we can blur the background and give you a very professional looking shot. And this time we can edit the blur the background in both devices.
Front Facing Camera
On the Note 9 we got 8 MP or with an F1.7 aperture and on the iPhone XS Max we got 7 MP with an F2.2 aperture. They both support portrait mode as well as blur the background.
Video
When it comes to video, both devices can record 4K video at 60fps, 1080p at 240fps. But Note 9 has a super slow-mo feature which can record 720p at 960fps.
Audio
Note 9 has Stereo audio recording and first time ever, iPhone XS comes with Max Stereo audio recording feature. Before XS Max, it used to have the mono audio recording which didn’t sound as much as rich than Samsung devices. Note 9 has 3.5mm headphone jack and Stereo Speakers tuned by AKG. But iPhone XS Max lacks headphone jacks.
Security
iPhone XS Max has face ID and has made lots of improvement as compared to last year. It’s a most secure facial recognition ever made on any smartphones that’s Apple claiming. On the Note 9, it though has facial recognition, it’s quite not secure than Face ID. But it has an iris Scanner and can use both combinations of facial and iris for better results.
Moreover, Note 9 also comes with a fingerprint scanner and that’s the easiest way to open the phone. Both devices are ip68 certified which are dust and water resistant. But in this case, Samsung Phones are too ahead than iPhones. Samsung added iP68 rating features starting with Galaxy S8 devices.
S Pen
The best part of the Note series is the S Pen. This year, S Pen also has Bluetooth connectivity, which means we can connect the phone S Pen remotely. We haven’t seen such features in other smartphones till yet. We can take selfies with the S Pen remotely and many more we can explore through it.
Prices
The price of Note 9 is Rs. 1,09,900 (Approx) for 128 GB variant and Rs. 128, 900 for 512 GB variant. Whereas, iPhone XS Max price starts from $1,099 for 64 GB, $1,249 for 256 GB and $1,449 for 512 GB variants.
